With the mission set forth in the Fuji Oil Group Management Philosophy and outlined below, the Fuji Oil Group seeks to contribute to society through business activities and encourage sustainable development while communicating with all of our stakeholders.

<Mission = Our reason for being>

The Fuji Oil Group seeks to develop the potential of food ingredients. We will contribute to the happiness and well-being of the people by offering delicious and healthy food.

<Vision>

We seek to contribute to the society by creating the future of delicious and healthy foods using our core technologies in oils & fats and soy.

<Values = The values that inform our actions>

  • Safety, quality, and the environment
  • Work for people
  • Challenge and innovation
  • Speed and timing

As a manufacturer of food ingredients, we believe that our procurement should be environmentally, socially and economically sustainable. The sourcing of cocoa, which is an important raw material for our business, faces complex and interconnected challenges. With demand growing, there is a chance that there may be shortages in the supply of cocoa in the future, resulting from farming communities aging and / or abandoning cocoa farming, from aging cocoa trees, from climate change, and from low productivity due to limitations of planting materials and knowledge of planting techniques. There are also complex human rights and environmental issues in the cocoa supply chain, including poverty among farmers, child labor, deforestation, and soil pollution.

Fuji Oil Group is committed to sourcing sustainably grown cocoa throughout our business, so as to continue contributing to the happiness of people with our cocoa-based products. Towards this end, and to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, we are committed to working with a wide range of stakeholders in the cocoa supply chain.

Key Commitments

  • Improving the livelihood of cocoa farmers

    We will improve the livelihood and productivity of cocoa farmers through the provision of comprehensive support, including training (on e.g. farming methods, soil management, appropriate use of fertilizers and pesticides) and interest-free or low interest micro finance.

  • Eliminating child labor from our supply chain

    We will seek to eliminate child labor from our supply chain through monitoring and the provision of remedies! raising awareness in cocoa farming communities! creating an environment that ensures access to education; and other measures that may be appropriate.

  • Preventing deforestation and protecting forest

    We will seek to prevent deforestation in our supply chain and to protect forest through monitoring and the provision of remedies! providing appropriate education and support to farmers! and other measures that may be appropriate.

We will develop an implementation plan for the above commitments, monitor implementation of the plan, and report on our progress.
